Bruno quits as Rydalmere coach

Rydalmere FC coach Bruno has quit the club this afternoon with immediate effect.

Former international and club veteran Basha will replace Bruno for the rest of the season.

Bruno handed in his resignation this afternoon when it became apparent he had lost the support of the board after weeks of speculation.

The club and Bruno released statements this afternoon, with Bruno saying that he was very privileged to have been involved with the Rydalmere Club.

“On Tuesday 12 July, I was told by Peter Basha, Rydalmere FC Chairman, that my services as head coach were no longer required by the Club after season 2011,” Bruno’s statement said.

“Having considered the impact this will have on my family, my support staff and the players, and importantly, the club that I love and have been involved with since the early 2000s, I will stand down effective immediately having helped the team complete its preparation for Saturdays Game against Dundas at Dundas.

“I feel very privileged to have been a part of a great club for so long and I want to thank all who have been a part of this journey with me.

“Please respect my right to privacy at this time, and allow the Rydalmere club to focus solely on the remainder of the 2011 season.”

Moments later, an official statement from the club was sent around, stating:

“Bruno was told this week that his services would not be required next season and he was given the option to finish out the year,” Rydalmere chairman Peter Basha said.

“He has elected to finish up immediately, which is his right.

“Bruno has been great for our Club over a 5 year period across a number of roles, from ball boy to head coach. However with regard to the head coaching position it had become clear that it was time for a change.”
